Terms and Conditions
Your Booking
1. Bookings are not confirmed until a 50% deposit (non-refundable) has been received.
2. Provisional bookings will not be kept open for any longer than 7 days without contact.
3. The Balance is to be paid 5 days before arrival.
4. The Dog and Duck are not responsible for chasing you, for payment, and if payment is not received at the agreed time, we reserve the right to cancel your booking
5. Refunds will not be given for collection before the end time and date.
6. Dogs collected after the confirmed end time and date will incur additional day rate charges, payable on collection.
7. During your continued use of The Dog and Duck you agree to check the information contained in your client portal account is complete and up to date at the time of each new booking.
8. The payment of a deposit and submission of the booking form is acknowledgment that you are entering a legal contract with The Dog and Duck subject to these terms and conditions.
Your Dogs Details
1. You confirm that you are the legal owner of the dog.
2. All dogs must be micro-chipped, and the microchip number must be supplied to The Dog and Duck prior to boarding.
3. You agree to provide full, honest and detailed information about your dog(s) and you will disclose any known dangers associated with your dog(s).
4. We are unable to accept dogs with aggression problems towards other dogs or people, subject to the terms of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. You must disclose to us if your pet has any aggressive tendencies either towards humans and/or other animals.
5. We are happy to accept bookings for un-spayed bitches. However, if your dog comes into season immediately prior to the stay, the booking will be cancelled, and your deposit will be refunded. If your dog comes into season during her stay, we will make every effort to protect your un-spayed bitch from unwanted male attention, but cannot be held responsible for any accidents that may occur and result in an unwanted pregnancy.
6. Unneutered dogs will not be boarded.
7. You confirm that your dog has not been ill with any contagious disease or condition within the last 30 days and that your dog(s) has received all the necessary vaccinations.
8. Whilst we will make every effort to ensure your dog(s) is cared for to our usual high standards, we cannot be liable for loss, injury or death either inside or outside of our home whilst in our care. Loss or Damage to belongings, however caused, during their stay is entirely at the owner’s risk.
9. All care will be taken to ensure the happiness, safety and welfare of your dog(s). If your dog(s) becomes unwell, or has an accident during boarding, we will take him/her to a Veterinary Surgeon. You agree to be responsible for full payment of veterinary fees incurred upon your return.
10. Under no circumstances will The Dog and Duck be liable for consequential damages or damages beyond the replacement value of your dog.
11. All dogs must have records to show current vaccinations for canine parvovirus, canine distemper, canine hepatitis, leptospirosis, kennel cough, worming, tick and flea treatments. The vaccination record must be provided prior to boarding and photographic evidence added to your client portal account. All vaccinations must be valid at least 14 days prior to the boarding beginning and cover the whole of the boarding term.
12. You agree to deliver your dog(s) in a clean condition. You authorise us to call your veterinary practice should we need any information regarding your pets’ condition
13. You will supply enough food for the duration of the stay and agree to refund any costs incurred purchasing further food supplies should this prove to be insufficient.
14. Each dog will be fed separately in its designated room unless we receive written consent to the contrary.
15. If you agree to your dog being exercised off lead, please complete the off-lead consent form. In doing so you accept responsibility for third party liability.
16. In accordance with the Control of Dogs Act 1992, all dogs will be provided with an ID tag or collar bearing the name, and telephone number of The Dog and Duck Home Boarding which must be worn for the duration of the boarding period.
17. Please note that it is the customers responsibility to make sure all collars, leads & harness’ provided are fitted correctly.
18. If your dog causes damage to the home or belongings, other than reasonable tear and wear, you agree to reimburse any reasonable cost incurred by the carer in this event.
Emergencies/ abandoned pets
1. Abandoned Pets; Re-homing. Pet Owners who fail to retrieve their pet after the service period identified in a booking agree that the Dog and Duck Home boarding may, in its sole discretion, place the pet in foster care, transfer care to animal control or other law enforcement authorities, or find other alternate care. Pet Owner agrees to reimburse the Dog and Duck Home boarding for all costs and expenses associated with such actions. Prior to removing a pet from our care, we will use reasonable efforts to contact the Pet Owner and/or the Pet Owner’s emergency contact to arrange alternative care. Should we not be able to contact the Pet Owner or the emergency contact, we will use our best judgment to find alternative care for the pet until the Pet Owner is able to retrieve his/her pet.
2. You need to provide us with a minimum of 1 emergency contact for the duration of your pets stay. The emergency contact needs to be able to provide your pet with emergency accommodation should a situation arise where we are no longer able to keep them with us, e.g., your pet does not settle, becomes increasingly stressed, become ill or show signs of aggression. Please be aware that should we have to pass your pet on to your emergency contact, the full price for the duration booked will still apply and no refund will be given.
3. In the unlikely event of your pet dying whilst in the care of The Dog and Duck Home Boarding, it is our policy to store your pets remains in cold storage at a local veterinary centre until your return. The Dog and Duck home Boarding will not inform you of the death of your pet whilst you are away, however, if you would like to be informed of your pets death please indicate this on the registration form prior to bringing your pet for boarding.
4. In the event that a vet has advised that it is necessary to euthanise a dog I will endeavour to contact the owner, in the first instance, or the emergency contact to obtain consent for the procedure to go ahead. Unless essential for the welfare of the dog, euthanasia must not take place without consent. The Dog and Duck Home boarding will a record of all euthanasia, and the identity of the qualified vet that carried it out.
